In this special edition of The Dairy Show I visited Marc Matsumoto of NoRecipes.com. I met Marc at a food blogging lecture and once I check out his awesome website I knew I had to have him on the show. Marc's blog NoRecipes.com is filled with amazing recipes (I know) and pictures of Marc's original creations. The blog is called No Recipes, because Marc's focus is on techniques. It was a lot of fun to make this episode and hopefully we will do another in the future.
Pastel de Tres Leches is a very traditional cake from Latin America, but on this episode we make a very unique version, because Marc uses cornflour instead of the normal all purpose flour. The use of masa harina and cornmeal gives the cake a great corn flavor which is complemented well by the sweet milk syrup it is soaked in.
I love NoRecipes and it's great to see Marc in action. Thanks for putting this together. The cake looks delicious. Curious -- what was on the bottom of the plate? A raspberry concoction?
